How do you verify a Janoshik certificate?

⚡ Short answer

Janoshik reports carry a task number at the top and a unique key at the bottom. You enter both on the Verify page of janoshik.com, or scan the QR code if the report has one. A report counts as genuine only if it matches the copy stored in the lab's system.

Who Janoshik is

Janoshik s.r.o. is a testing laboratory registered in Prague, in the Czech Republic. It tests samples that customers send in. It says it does not sell products and does not recommend or comment on specific suppliers.

This page explains how its own checking system works. It is not an endorsement of the lab or of any report.

What you need

According to the lab's help centre, a report can only be checked if it shows both of these:

A task number, at the top of the report.
A unique key, at the bottom of the report.

How to check it

Go to janoshik.com yourself and open the Verify page from the menu, rather than following a link from the seller.
Type in the task number and the unique key. The lab says to enter the key in capital letters.
Or scan the QR code on the report, if there is one.
If the report is genuine, you can open the copy stored in the lab's system.

Compare, do not just tick

The lab says a report is only genuine if it matches the version it holds. If anything has been changed, it does not count. So open the stored copy and compare it line by line with the one you were given: the sample name, the results, the date and the batch number.

If the task number or key is missing, the report cannot be checked. The lab suggests asking the seller for the full version.

What a match does not tell you

The header of a Janoshik report, including the manufacturer and batch number, is filled in by the customer who ordered the test. The lab also offers extra copies of a report with different header details. A verified report proves the lab issued it. It does not, on its own, prove which vial the sample came from.
